Flyte New Media Celebrates Ten Years of Helping Small Businesses Succeed Online

May 1, 2007 — Since 1997, flyte new media has evolved from a one-person design shop to Maine's premier Web design and Internet marketing firm helping small business compete on the Web.

Flyte started in president Rich Brooks's apartment with an aging computer and a dial-up connection to the Web. "I've always been fascinated by technology," reports Brooks, "and the impact it has on people. I wish I could say that we've always focused on the needs of small business owners, but that came about because of the challenges we face every day as a small business."

Brooks and his team know there's more to online success than an attractive Web site. "There's no benefit to a beautiful Web site that doesn't help generate qualified leads for your business, or that can't be found through the search engines. Small business owners and entrepreneurs need support their Web site with a holistic approach Internet marketing that includes search engine optimization, email marketing, business blogs and more."

Flyte's sales and marketing approach to Web site development helps small businesses grow. Whether it's an e-commerce site for Green Design Furniture, a marketing site for Sabre Yachts, or a real estate Web site for southern Maine's Whitten Properties, flyte works with each client to develop and tailor an effective Web marketing campaign.

One of the things that has kept flyte growing over the past ten years is the way they integrate new Internet marketing opportunities as they arise. "A few years back I didn't know what a blog was, but now we're helping many Maine businesses compete through blog marketing; we help them with design, promotion and consultative services.

"The last ten years have been an amazing adventure for flyte," says Brooks. "Since only about 4% of businesses make it to their 10-year anniversary, I realize how blessed I've been. I can't say enough about my co-workers or our clients...some of whom have been with us since the beginning. I know some people feel Maine isn't as business-friendly as it could be, but there's no place I'd rather be running my business."

So what does Brooks think the next ten years will hold? "What makes this such an interesting industry is that it's difficult to predict the next 10 months, much less the next 10 years. Future Web marketing may take place more often in virtual realms like Second Life, or be distributed through mobile devices as we all become more connected.

"Whatever the technological changes are, the future of flyte will be in helping small business owners connect and develop lasting relationships with their clients."
